The freeware „EasyGPS“ is for communication between PC and GPS receiver. On the basis of the GPS exchange format *.gpx routes, tracks, waypoints and points of interest can be down and up-loaded. You can produce the necessary *.gpx format with our GPS file converter out of the other GPS formats.
Before you upload routes and tracks EasyGPS controls whether the number of route and track points can be saved on your GPS receiver. Furthermore you can give symbols to the waypoints in accordance with the used GPS mobile receiver.
Together with our software „GROUPI“ EasyGPS can also be used as follows: EasyGPS controls the position of waypoints online on a map by MapQuest. Thus the exactness of the scanned map and the calibration of the map in GROUPI are controlled. The following four screenshots demonstrate this (the screenshots are taken from the example card of the demo-version of GROUPI):
GROUPI produces routes and points of interest in a calibrated map. A point of interest (here 137) is only for control and should represent an important point e.g. a rectangular crossing. When finishing the data are saved by GROUPI in a *.gpx file which is then opened by "EasyGPS" and presented as follows:
EasyGPS lists the waypoints and points of interest which are to be converted. Now you click the checkpoint (here the crossing/POI137) and then the button "View Online". An online-connection to the homepage of EasyGPS is activated and there you click on "MapQuest: Street". The following map section is shown:
The map shows the section around the marked point in zoom-level 6. You find the coordinates of the crossing produced by "GROUPI" leftside on top, the scale of the map rightside on top. The star presents the position of the coordinates in the map. Now you can enlarge the map to maximum and get the following map:
The map shows a section around the marked point in zoom-level 10. The star which presents the coordinates for this crossing produced by "GROUPI" is exactly on the crossing. This reveals that the map used is of good quality and that the calibration of the map in GROUPI was done correctly.
